چکیده
ABSTRACT: The determination of nutritional requirements, based on diets administered in practice, considers physiological specificities and sustainability are essential to the development suitable aquaculture technologies for novel fish species. growth jundia (Rhamdia quelen Quoy Gaimard) juveniles (31.54 ± 4.92 g) fed five comprising increasing levels digestible protein (DP: 24, 29, 34, 39, 44 %) energy (DE: 12.13, 13.39, 13.81, 14.64, 15.06 MJ kg−1) with DP:DE ratios: 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 g MJ−1, respectively, was evaluated. Each diet three groups 25 75 days. Regression analysis showed that different ratios affected both economic performance as well excretion total ammonia nitrogen. Fish between 22 27 MJ−1 achieved a higher daily weight gain, superior apparent net utilization, feed conversion rates, lower costs. For economically viable environmentally friendly farming initial grow–out stage (30 80 average weight), best ratio (34.05 % DP 13.81 kg−1 DE).

Effects of surgically implanted dummy transmitters on the South American catfish Jundiá (Rhamdia quelen).
High water temperatures and low water quality may negatively influence wound healing, growth and transmitter retention in radio-tagged fish of tropical and subtropical water bodies which in turn may hamper radio tracking studies. For a period of 90 days, we compared growth of an experimental group of ten Rhamdia quelen, which were submitted to intraperitoneal dummy transmitter implantation, wit...
متن کاملActivity patterns of South American silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen).
The South American silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen) is a widely distributed species in Central and South America in areas east of the Andes between Venezuela and the northern parts of Argentina. The bottom dwelling species occurs in lakes and reservoirs as well as in rivers. Between June 2000 and December 2001, sixteen silver catfish were tracked during fourteen 24-h cycles in two-hour-intervals...
متن کاملSequence analysis of the growth hormone gene of the South American catfish Rhamdia quelen.
Rhamdia quelen is an important Neotropical catfish species for fisheries and aquaculture in southern Brazil, where it is called Jandia. Like other native Brazilian species of economic importance, R. quelen genetics needs more attention for animal breeding programs. The growth hormone gene is known to be linked to a number of molecular markers and quantitative trait loci. We sequenced the coding...
متن کاملFeeding activity and influence of intraspecific competition on zooplankton communities by jundiá (Rhamdia quelen Quoy and Gaimard, 1824) in laboratory.
Experiments were designed to determine if the juvenile forms of jundia (Rhamdia quelen) exhibit selectivity feeding on zooplanktonic organisms and the influence of intraspecific competition on the diet. The fish were maintained in 5000-L containers, and after seven days from birth, they were acclimated in experimental units with different densities and supplied with water containing plankton (n...
متن کاملHaematological and parasitological assessment of silver catfish Rhamdia quelen farmed in Southern Brazil.
This study evaluated for two years the haematological parameters and the occurrence of gill parasites in silver catfish Rhamdia quelen, farmed in the state of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil. Between March 2010 and January 2012, a total of 137 fish were caught in a fish farm to compare the haematological and parasitological analysis, during hot and cold seasons. Simultaneously, water quality pa...
